I had trouble falling asleep. I was spooked by the movie (???). I took more melatonin and read, which worked.
People were coming to support my kitchen floor. While sipping coffee in bed, I called to find out when. Answer came back — 9AM. I hurried to dress and just made to when the doorbell rang.
Two men, neither speaking English nor understanding it were there. I tried to explain the problem. They called their boss and spoke in Spanish. I talked to the boss who spoke good English. After a while it seemed the problem was clear.
They measured distances and got wood and tools from the truck. During the operation I heard a band saw and pounding. At the end I gave them a check for $300, as agreed. I was happy the job was done.
After lunch my VA family stopped to pick up a surf board and head to Assateague Island to surf. My grandson loved surfing and did it a lot. When they stopped back around 5:30 we sat down for a snack and refreshments. I asked my son to go into the crawlspace (tight and dirty) to see what was done. He used his phone (took pictures). When he emerged, he said they didn’t fix anything, just nailed some boards here and there. I had been scammed.
I felt terrible. Disappointed, I still had the problem. The next morning I contacted my bank and stopped payment. I received an email from Thumbtack to evaluate the work. I put down the whole scam story. They texted they would check it out. Haven’t heard from them.
In spite of this upset for me, I had a nice visit with my family. My grandson happily took the goodies my Denver family couldn’t take on the plane. They rolled the mattress pad and put it back in the box. On the way home, they returned it to Walmart.
I had a hunger attack that evening and ate half a jar of almond butter.
Slept OK, but felt listless and had a sore throat the next day. My arthritis was screaming. This would be a quiet and easy day.
After my shake and exercises, I colored my hair and showered. After lunch and lay-down, I boiled eggs and sautéed cabbage, read, did hip exercises, and meditation. After dinner I watched ‘Human’ on Netflix (so-so) and started a biography of the Spanish tennis star, Rafael Nadal (interesting). It is nominated for an Emmy.
Slept super soundly. Sunday. After my shake and exercises, I streamed my Delaware church. The guest speaker, a newer member, was outstanding. After that I blogged and streamed my Denver church, also good.
After lunch and lay-down I walked the county park. A lovely sunny day, 70’s, light breeze. Then I blogged and tried to move my photos to Shutterfly for printing. Not all moved (???). Then I tried CVS nearby. With difficulty, that worked (don’t know if it was me or the software).
After dinner I talked to my Denver son who filled me in on the schedule for treatment of his wife’s breast cancer. She would have a port installed on Monday and begin chemo on Tuesday. I feel bad for all she will go through. My husband (at 81) went through 9 months of chemo 7 years ago.
Continued on the bio of Rafa Nadal.
