(Aging Wisely – A Blog)

Who at age 20, 30, 40…can even comprehend what 80 is like? Who wants to? In an offhand way I heard friends talk about not thinking they would ever make it to 50, let alone 80. It’s so far off. Like the moon. Well here I am, 85. And if you ever wondered what life is like at 80 plus, please continue to read my blog. More to come.

I slept terribly last night. I had watched an interview of an American history professor from Rutgers who wrote a history of anti-fascism. The Trump administration thinks he is organizing antifa and trolled him mercilessly. His young children cried on many occasions. He decided to move his family to Spain. At the airport gate, preparing…

Saturday wake up was not good. I slept 10 hours, but much less energy than usual. I felt flush. I took my temperature which was 97. Probably a virus. The only thing that appealed to me was chicken soup. So I dragged myself to the grocery and bought the necessary ingredients. No exercise that day.…

Slept well. Set my alarm for 6:30 AM so I could participate in my Pittsburgh medication. Well attended – – 12. Reading was on communicating with heart, not just automatic responses. I liked it. Afterwards I walked to the gym, a perfect fall day, typical for here, 33 in the morning, sunny, brilliant blue sky,…

I had a great sleep. I needed it with two social outings today. After breakfast and exercises, I dressed to go to lunch with my daughter-in-law’s mother. We picked a favorite Indian restaurant with one big caveat — we both were off carbs. After spending a long time with the extensive menu, we picked something.…

Sunday. I streamed 2 churches. Denver’s service commemorated those who had died. The altar was set up for pictures from the congregation. Big surprise. The minister is going on a 5 month sabbatical and won’t return until April. I will miss him. He is an intellectual and a humanist. The others are also good, so…

Did Tuesday Meditation with my Pittsburgh group. One member did a face plant tripping on a pipe in Mt. Lebanon. She did’t break anything, luckily, but ended up bruised. Afterwards did my Essentrics exercises which mostly were on the floor, hard for me, but I did my best. After lunch and a lay-down, blogged and…

Another good 9 hour sleep, with 2 potty breaks and one change of pad. Only one more night with Debrox and cotton balls in my ears. I intended to spend only 30 minutes drinking coffee in my bed, scrolling Apple News. But I hit an Atlantic article I couldn’t stop reading for 1 1/2 hours.…

Did my essentrics exercises in the morning, then grocery shopped. Watched the last quarter of Penn State football and was again disappointed. Watched extra TV because of the ‘fall back’ clock change. Sunday I streamed 3 churches. I was impressed with the Denver resident minister’s sermon. I’ll invite my family one of these Sundays. Football…

Slept well. The 1 mg. of melatonin taken at bedtime, followed by 20 minutes of reading anything, has been doing well by me. Soon I can’t take in any meaning from the words, then go to sleep. Lots of dreams, too. My VA family gave us tickets to Adams Murder Mystery Dinner Playhouse last Christmas.…

Bad night’s sleep. I received an email from a friend that was somewhat mysterious. She would call the next day. I was spooked. I slept 2 extra hours to make up for lost sleep. Went to the Rec Center, did recumbent bike and machines. Afterwards I watched the Indiana University / Penn State football game…
